BIKEBIZ AWARDS 2023: MICROMOBILITY BRAND OF THE YEAR
Rebecca Bland sits down with Mathilde Rineau from British brand Volt to discuss the opening of Café Volt, subscription services in the e-bike market and more
I
f you’ve been keeping an eye on the burgeoning e-bike market in the UK, as a mechanic, bike shop
owner, or even as a potential customer, you’ve probably heard of Volt bikes. Founded in 2010, they’ve been at the forefront of the British e-bike scene for over a decade, and last year they were recognised for their hard work with the Micromobility Brand of the Year 2023 at the BikeBiz Awards. While the brand continues to get rave reviews across the media and their customer bases for their e-bikes, part of that recognition is thanks to sales and marketing manager, Mathilde Rineau.
She joined the company during the pandemic, and is a familiar face at events, backing the brand with her physical presence as well as a dynamic online one.

She’s helped to make the brand more of a household name, and keeps a community of customers
connected through storytelling.
Something she says is because, “there’s no better way than a customer to sell a bike because they know their bike inside out.” Maintaining a relationship with customers is a big part of the Volt marketing movement, as they strive to build a community base so their customers don’t just feel like another “number.” This approach has evidently worked well for the company, as they now have over 100 dealers across the UK.
