GAME DEVS OF COLOR EXPO This online event showcases creators of colour in the games industry, featuring discussions, panels, interviews, and game announcements. The impressive list of speakers include the makers of Venba, Never Alone 2, a South African dev panel and a presentation from Star Yolk Games curiously titled ‘“Generating Hope in an AI Hellscape”. A series of in-person watch parties are planned for the expo, but sadly none of them are in the UK.

WOMEN IN GAMES AWARDS 2024 Last year’s MCV/DEVELOP Awards took place on the eve of the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, giving many of those in attendance the perfect opportunity to book a day off in the name of “research”. This year we’re offering a similar service, as the Women In Games Awards take place on the same day that The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is launched. Not just the latest in a long line of Zelda games, but the first to allow players to serendipitously control Princess Zelda. Sadly, she’s not been shortlisted for an award. Maybe next year?

BRAND LICENSING
EUROPE Now in its 25th year, Brand Licensing Europe will be featuring more than 200 brands, many of which can be filed under ‘gaming’, including Xbox, Capcom, SEGA, Pokémon, BANDAI NAMCO, ESL, Banjo Kazooie, Just Dance, Atari, The Sims, 2000 AD, TEKKEN, PAC-MAN, Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Space Invaders, Warhammer and others. The number of non-gaming brands is considerably more and the opportunities for anyone attending at the ExCel event are almost beyond measure. If you need further convincing, John Friend - Head of Xbox Gaming Consumer Products at Microsoft - is confirmed as the Day One keynote.
