What changes do you hope to see in the games industry over the next five to ten years regarding gender equality and inclusivity?

Louise Andrew: I would like to see equal numbers of women as men in the most senior roles within games development and publishing companies. That would be my dream! Let’s make that happen!


Vikki Neale: I would love to see more diversity at a senior level in studios. More diverse and inclusive game content that authentically represents diverse cultures, genders and identities, driven by those in development.


May Wong: I hope to see increased representation of women, minority groups, and LGBTQIA+ individuals in media, awards, and the games we create. It’s important for everyone to feel seen and included. Lauren Kaye: I want to see more internal training. There was a recent article about how we are having a skills shortage and I think a lot of that comes from the lack of foresight in how we train game dev on the job. Obviously with crunch in our culture there often doesn’t


seem to be time for training up new people, but if we want to have any semblance of a healthy career lifecycle we need to look into how we can guide juniors and even mid-level employees into leadership positions.


Vikki Neale: More mentorship and networking opportunities, increased investment and knowledge in education institutes to encourage more women to pursue careers in game development. Greater recognition of the achievements of women through industry awards and speaking opportunities and stronger collaboration between studios to promote ideas and best practice, opportunities to share resources and drive a collective initiative towards a more inclusive industry. Tara Mustapha: I’m excited that the new wave of studios created in the next few years will build inclusive environments from day one, showing that diversity is not just a goal but a smart investment that enriches the industry.
