GOLDEN JOYSTICK AWARDS 2024 Nominations should be open for this year’s Golden Joystick Awards by the time you read this, with voting to commence on the shortlisted games from October 6th. With it being a popularity contest, we can expect the big hitters of 2024 thus far to do well: Helldivers 2, the Elden Ring expansion and Dragon’s Dogma 2 among them, plus plenty of titles still to come, of course.

AFRICA GAMES WEEK AGW co-founders, Nick Hall and Rex Bowden, continue in their mission to bring attention to the growing African gaming industry. It was almost a decade ago that they decided to do something about the lack of awareness about Africa’s gaming scene having visited the likes of GDC, gamescom, Paris Games Week, and others. This led them to the idea of organising an event in Cape Town to bring together African gaming talent, such as studio heads, developers, industry professionals, and newcomers, to highlight the excellence of Africa’s gaming industry. 2024’s event will be the seventh to do just that.
