S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: HEART OF CHORNOBYL
Much has happened since the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. arose out of the radioactive swamp in 2007. The developer has had to deal with unceasing setbacks in the quest to complete a direct sequel, not least an invasion from Russia in 2022. Thankfully the studio has been able to relocate to Prague and work in relative peace since, with the result that the fourth game in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series will finally see the light of day more than 15 years on from the third. Sadly, not this month, as we’ve just heard it’s been delayed until November.

WARHAMMER 40,000: SPACE MARINE 2 In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war. Well, not quite. You can probably add irreversible climate change, food security and whatever the next big social media thing is going to be. …Oh yes, and old builds of imminent games being leaked to the internet. Rather unfortunately, Space Marine 2 is the latest title to suffer having its old code uploaded for all to play. Thankfully, it seems most players have rallied behind the publisher to ensure the game’s highly anticipated launch remains exactly that.

UFO 50
UFO 50 is a compilation of 50 original games, reminiscent of the infamous Cassette 50 that was released for the 8-bit home computers of the early 1980s. The difference here is that the games were created in GameMaker rather than BASIC, will be available from Steam rather than loaded from cassette, and will surely be fun to play rather than absolute tosh. How can we be sure? Because the likes of Derek Yu is behind it, and they haven’t deemed it necessary to throw in a free watch to sweeten the deal.
