It’s been an incredibly busy time for the Kennedy’s team - and we’re not complaining! At the end of April we had the pleasure of attending ISM/ProSweets Special Edition in Cologne, and despite there being a smaller attendance for the ProSweets section than usual, the show proved very successful and exhibitors were boasting quality conversations from old and new customers alike. Read the full report on page 14. The expert stage had a variety of interesting talks and insights, a particular highlight for me was the Start-Up Arena, where many fantastic new developments in the confectionery and snacking categories were showcased. For instance, Push Sharma told us all about his product Haldy, sugar- free turmeric mints! A very unique way to consume the golden goodness of turmeric and one I had not seen before. Innova Market Insights also presented their 10 Food and Beverage trends for 2023, and I thoroughly enjoyed learning about some of the key trends in the sector. We didn’t want our readers to miss out, so we reported the entire talk which you can fi nd on page 16.

Shortly after our return from Cologne we were away again heading to Düsseldorf for the much anticipated interpack 2023, the place to be for all in the processing and packaging industry! Since joining the confectionery industry over 4 years ago I had heard nothing but positive reviews about the trade show, and I was keen to discover it for myself. I am pleased to say it exceeded my expectations and I was completely blown away by the representation of the confectionery and bakery industry! It was fantastic to catch up with old friends and make new ones also, all the while discussing the key advancements in the sectors and really seeing how we can best support you through the Kennedy’s titles. It was an invigorating experience and I am delighted to report our review of the show on page 19. From sustainability initiatives, energy effi ciency, fl exible systems and technological advancements, it’s clear to see the packaging and processing industry has a lot to offer! It was worth the very sore feet from running through hall after hall!
As always please enjoy the in-depth bespoke features from myself and my features editor, where we cover fresh takes on functional ingredients, digitalisation, glazing, polishing & coating, and of course with the Sweets and Snacks Expo around the corner, we also look at the latest snack products dominating the market. I look forward to following up on our many conversations from the past two shows, and please do follow us on social media to keep up-to-date with all the news in the confectionery industry!
