Industry innovators shine at ISM/ProSweets 2023


ProSweets saw a high number of foreign visitors, great interest in new technologies and energy effi ciency and closed with a promise to return to its usual January date and own hall in 2024. Kiran Grewal reports.

roSweets Cologne is the most important and most effective marketing platform for the suppliers of the sweets and snacks industry. This year’s Special Edition also clearly confi rmed this. Alongside ISM 2023, the international supplier fair was postponed


from January to April and the organisers say the unique format of the Special Edition also demonstrated its competence and effectiveness. After three intense trade fair days, the conclusion was thus extremely positive: “The producers of sweets and snacks and the supplier industry only form such a cohesive unit across the entire value chain here in Cologne,” explained Gerald Böse, President and Chief Executive Offi cer of Koelnmesse GmbH. “A very high number of interested parties are already on location because of the parallelism with ISM alone. Then, there are those manufacturers, who also don’t want to miss out on the special format of ProSweets Cologne. Because it offers an overall view of the solutions for the most important demands of the industry as well as the key trends and of course direct contact to the solution providers. The fact that everyone is looking forward to a regular ProSweets Cologne in its own hall in January 2024 was also clearly tangible at the trade fair. From the exhibitors’ point of view, above all the high quality of

the visitors that largely comprised of executives and production managers was decisive for the positive assessment of the trade fair. Kennedy’s Confection attended the event and spoke to a number of exhibitors about their experience at the show. Markus Gebhart of Hans Brunner on day one of the show:


“It’s Sunday morning, so maybe everyone wants to rest in bed, but later in the afternoon it became quite crowded! It was much better than expected!” Antoinette Jakons of Mantrose said: “A calm day but with quality visits.” Pablo Elizondo, Head of R&D at Capol said: “It’s been really interesting to see the excitement for the natural colours, it’s the fi rst time we have such a spotlight in our view of pigment technology and there’s been a really good response.” The trade fair duo, ISM and ProSweets Cologne - Special


Edition, the leading international trade fair for sweets and snacks, recorded more than 25,000 visitors from 135 countries. 72 percent came from abroad. Furthermore, with special measures like a well-attended “Matchmaking Breakfast” and an attractive trade fair lounge, the trade fair offered the ideal opportunity for in-depth networking.
