interpack review

allowed the user to embark on an interactive journey around a production line, to be transported there, and to experience the sensation of looking at the environment through 360 degrees. tna experts were on-hand to guide users at all times, and to discuss how the technology can be used in the real world to achieve both efficiency and sustainability gains. “What we have on display at the show is just a

representation of what is possible,” continued Avelange, “but that representation speaks to a need in the industry to leverage the virtual space to better deliver for customers and the environment. Digitalisation is fuelling the future of the processing and packaging industry, and we enjoyed demonstrating this at interpack 2023.” Premier Forrester says: “Sustainability was at the forefront

of many exhibitors’ agendas because consumer trends demand it. We were particularly excited to see the latest innovation from CHOCAL Sustainable Packaging. Their new paper and natural fibre materials allow home compostable and biodegradable packaging that do not leave any microplastics - an industry first! “Visitor presence from the UK was lower than anticipated,

which demonstrates the nervousness in the market from economic turbulence. But, on an international level, the visitors continued coming through the doors throughout the show. It was great to speak to people from near and far.”

Inspection technology In an exclusive shared with Kennedy’s Confection, Mettler- Toledo Product Inspection announced it has launched the X2 Series of high-performing x-ray systems to help enhance product safety at an incredible price point for all food manufacturers. With two x-ray systems currently in the X2 Series, x-ray inspection is now accessible for all budgets, offering manufacturers software that is designed to last longer and perform better. Visitors to interpack 2023 were able to view the X2 Series on the Mettler-Toledo booth, where the Kennedy’s team were given a tour of the stand by Niall McRory, Global Key Account Manager for the Product Inspection division, highlighting how productivity, was a key focus for the company. Every detail of the X2 Series technology is optimised to

offer superior performance. At the heart of the design is a new product inspection chamber and a revolutionary modular mechanical design which allows full frontal access to all the most common operations. It offers a range of new features to improve operations such as product handling, cleaning and service routines. The X2 Series’ range of standard length and height configurations is complemented by bespoke designs to allow total customisation to meet exact customer needs. Niall McRory, Global Key Account Manager, Mettler-Toledo

Product Inspection looked back at the company’s time at the show and said: “interpack 2023 has been a huge success for us in terms of seeing a large number of international manufacturers who are looking to integrate innovative product inspection technologies to help improve their product safety and reduce production costs. Visitors were very excited to see first-hand our newly launched X2 Series - a modular, high-performing x-ray inspection solution with smart industrial design - which has been designed to improve operations such as product handling, cleaning and service at an affordable price.”

KennedysConfection.com “Versatility was another topic

clearly on our customers’ minds. The latest advancements in robotic technology are finally giving the customer the ability

to configure the same packaging lines for multiple complex

product types, without the need for significant downtime and expensive change parts”

Ishida Europe celebrated a huge milestone at interpack

this year with a ceremonial cake-cutting on the stand to mark the company’s 130th anniversary. The company also unveiled (quite literally) the QX-500: the new ultra compact, high performance Traysealer which was live broadcasted on our Linkedin channel. The new Ishida QX-500 has been developed following detailed feedback from the company’s global customers and partners, resulting in the design of a compact tray sealer that can fit easily into new and existing packing lines and combines seal quality and high throughput; helping companies to meet their sustainability targets. “The global food market remains extremely competitive, and

companies face many challenges on a daily basis,” explained Tara O’Connor, Product Manager for Tray Sealers at Ishida Europe. “By talking in depth with our customers and partners, we have been able to fully understand their tray sealing requirements. The QX500 is designed to maximise yields and throughput without compromising on product or pack quality and while minimising environmental impact.”

Complete lines At the 650 m2 exhibition stand equipped with multimedia technology, many interested visitors obtained detailed information about the customised WDS production lines and were advised by the WDS professionals. While a great deal of interest was already apparent before the fair, the days of the fair topped the expectations of the WDS trade fair team once again. Jessica Runkel, Managing Director Winkler und Dünnebier

Süßwarenmaschinen said: “We are pleased that we can finally exhibit at interpack again after six years and meet with so many international customers after the pandemic period.
