ISM/ProSweets Review

efficiency as well as sustainability within the complex process chain through to packaging. A particular focus also lay on the segment comprising of raw materials, ingredients and semi- finished products. There was a significantly higher number of exhibitors here this year. In addition to the topic of sustainability and products that convince with their taste and technology, the implementation of special raw materials to achieve exceptional sensory impressions was also discussed here. The lecture programme of the Expert Stage also covered this topic, as well as the Guided Tours that were carried out by the experts of DLG. With 119 suppliers from 23 countries, ProSweets Cologne

covers all of the main exhibition sections from packaging materials and machines, to plants and automation, through to food safety and operating and auxiliary equipment. In addition to leading companies, numerous smaller and medium-sized special suppliers also took part, who are so important in terms of the demand from the sweets and snacks industry. The area available in the passage between Halls 4 and 5 and the Central Boulevard of the Southern fairgrounds was completely fully- booked this year. Next year, ProSweets Cologne will be staged in its own hall

again, the surface and infrastructure of which will also be geared up to demonstrate for instance large production and packaging lines again. Suppliers have already reserved corresponding space so they can present their machines and systems in operation to their customers live. As usual, ProSweets Cologne will be staged parallel to ISM.

The contents of the event programme will continue to be intermeshed in order to further extend the synergies between the two trade fairs. ProSweets Cologne and ISM competently cover the entire value chain for sweets and snacks and with their unique offer once again turn Cologne into the international supplier and trade hub of the entire industry. ProSweets Cologne is sponsored by the Federal Association

of the German Sweets Industry (BDSI), Sweets Global Network e.V. (SG), the German Agricultural Society (DLG e.V.) and the Central College of the German Sweets Industry (ZDS). As was the case last year, the top innovations of the New

Product Showcase were selected by an independent jury of experts from the industry, trade and field of science. The award ceremony and the announcement of the winners took place during the exclusive ISM Dinner in Cologne on Sunday, 23 April 2023. By experimenting creatively with new ingredients, textures

and aromas the award-winning companies offer their customers new taste experiences. At the same time, thanks to innovative production processes and environmentally-friendly packaging their products not only look attractive, they are also healthier and more sustainable. 1st place: tri d´Aix GmbH with their Sweet Stories candy floss from Germany 2nd place: CAL Marketing Pty. Ltd. with “Brown Sugar Boba

Milk Tea Mochi” from Australia 3rd place: WORLD´S COCONUT TRADING SL with “Purple Sweet Potato Chips BBQ” from Spain First place went to the company tri d´Aix GmbH with its candy

floss Sweet Stories with no added sugar. Can candy floss without sugar and flavour enhancers taste good? Not until now was the unanimous decision of the jury. However, the innovative product that is made near Aachen was able to convince the experts of

The next ProSweets Cologne is scheduled to take place from Sunday, 28.01.2024 to Wednesday, 31.01.2024.

the contrary. “Just like at the fair,” concluded the jury. The taste is convincing – without additional colourings or gluten and above all with around 90 percent less sugar. The candy floss was voted the most innovative, new product at ISM 2023. Claiming second place, Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea Mochi primarily stood out because of its combination of being “soft” and “chewy”. The product by CAL Marketing Pty. Ltd. from Australia is a chilled taste experience of the special kind, the jury praised. Japanese mochi is gradually developing into a global trend product. It is a speciality made from rice that is sweet or savoury and which excels with its imaginative combination of ingredients. Third in the ranking this year, Purple Sweet Potato Chips

BBQ from Spain, is a vegan product that stands out because of its smokey taste. For the jury the colourful crisps of WORLD´S COCONUT TRADING SL are an exotic head-turner that catch the eye among the usual conventional potato crisps and snack items.
