Hughes Electrical raises £35,000 for the Benjamin Foundation
Hughes Electrical has raised £35,000 for the Benjamin Foundation after 60 of its members of staff took part in a sponsored 24 hour walk, over a 57-mile course in Suffolk. The Foundation supports young people throughout
Norfolk and Suffolk and will use the much-needed funds to provide for its Young Carers service. Jack Phelps, Hughes Director of Retail, said: “This is the third year we have raised money for the Benjamin Foundation, having previously completed a sponsored bike ride and parachute jump. “This year was not without its challenges as
there was torrential rain for much of the time. What we achieved is a testament to our true team effort,
putting others before ourselves, and truly caring about colleagues which just underlines what incredible people we have working at Hughes. “But all the hardship was worth it, we managed to raise £17,000 from sponsorship with Hughes match funding up to £15,000. All is going to support the charity and the fantastic work it does with young people and their families.” Kirsty Pitcher, Interim CEO at the charity, commented: “The Benjamin Foundation are once again overjoyed by the support from Hughes in their latest fundraiser. “We hope the great photos and insightful stories resulting from their event inspire others to take
on similar challenges as the Hughes Community continues to demonstrate the great impact these activities have on supporting our work. “The positive outcomes from their fundraiser will help us continue to deliver support to children, young people and families across Norfolk and Suffolk, such as helping fund our Boom! Young Carers service.”
Exclusively Show raises £20,000 for The Rainy Day Trust
More than 30 suppliers from the housewares, small domestic electricals and gift sectors who were exhibiting at the Exclusively Show have collectively raised £20,000 for the industry charity, The Rainy Day Trust (RDT), by donating product from their exhibition stands. Exhibitors at the show were asked to donate
products from their stands at the end of the two-day event for the charity to pass on to families in need or to sell and raise money for the same purpose. Housewares, gift, and small domestic electricals suppliers responded in style and pallet loads of stock were promised to RDT. Rainy Day Trust CEO, Bryan Clover, commented:
“We have now had chance to value the donated product and it’s clear
that Exclusively exhibitors
have contributed £20k to the charity, just from their donations as the show. Everyone at RDT is immensely grateful to all the donors and to the Exclusively Show as a whole for supporting us.” BHETA’s Chief Operating Officer and Exclusively Show Chair, Will Jones, said: “It is always a pleasure to help RDT with the very good and much needed work it does for people who work - or have worked - in any avenue of the home and garden industry. More suppliers than ever donated this year with more product than any previous year, and this amazing monetary result is the impressive result of their generosity.”
