26 Tapping in to taps

Of course, no sink is complete without a tap. And if you thought the styles and sizes of sinks was mind-boggling enough, tap options are even more vast! These include professional models with pull out sprays and hand rinses through to pot fillers and filter taps, in addition to instant hot water taps and filtered water taps. “Today, the wet zone has become a high-

traffic, multi-functional space so any product that helps transform this area into a hybrid workstation for cleaning and hydration is only set to grow,” comments Dan Biddle, Product Manager at Abode. “We are also reflecting the market’s desire

for increased personalisation with regards to instant hot water taps and can confirm that the days of ‘one size fits all’ are officially over!”

Mr Biddle highlights recent research that found that 80 per cent of all new premium kitchens, and 20 per cent of all mid-range kitchens, now include a hot water tap as the go-to kitchen essential. To reflect this, Abode recently launched the UK’s first collection of Scandinavian-style Pronteau instant hot water taps; it was named ‘Best Hot Water Tap’ at the 2024 Ideal Home Awards and it’s a finalist in the Best New SDA Product category at this year’s ERT Awards. There’s also Abode’s Pronteau Scandi-X with distinct monobloc silhouette, real Beechwood lever handles, and three trend finishes: Matt White, Matt Black and Scandi Grey, and the industrial-style Industria 3 IN 1 instant hot water taps in contemporary Matt Black and luxury Brushed Brass finishes.

Once a niche product primarily found in high- end kitchens, it would seem that hot water taps have now become a mainstream purchase. Daniel Boulton, Procurement Manager at Clearwater (supplier and distributor to the kitchen studio sector), says hot water taps have made their way onto the wish lists of most consumers. The Magus 4 Electronic tap features intuitive

controls to provide a new level of convenience; the left-hand LED control dispenses 98-degree filtered water, while the right-hand lever delivers domestic hot and cold water and fresh cold filtered water. Also, retailers will be pleased to know that the digital thermostatic boiler is straightforward to install, with an ultra-compact design fitting neatly in the under-sink cupboard. “There is still significant potential for growth

in hot water tap sales across all market segments,” adds Mr Boulton. “This starts with retailers educating their customers about the benefits, addressing safety concerns, and demonstrating ease of operation.” Elsewhere, GROHE recently expanded its

EuroSmart Kitchen Tap range with the addition of three new variants. The tap includes a pull-out dual spray feature and comes in three different heights with either U- or C-shape design. All GROHE products are available in Chrome,

with a selection also in Supersteel or Matte Black, which is the latest addition to the GROHE Colours Collection. Lewis Neathey, Product Management Lead at GROHE UK, says: “There is a clear trajectory towards kitchen solutions that enhance efficiency, simplicity and convenience. >>
