Crwys Electrics, Crwys Road ERT’s mystery shopping team has been out and about


again, this time in Cardiff, to check up on the sales skills of electrical retailers across the Welsh capital.


Originally established in 1954, this store – located on a busy A road just north of the city centre – has been under new management since March 2022. I was looking for a fridge-freezer. Inside the store, I was greeted by Karen, who asked if I needed any help. I explained that due to changes at home, I was looking for more storage.


Karen asked me if I was looking for a freestanding or integrated model and explained that fridge-freezers generally come in two sizes, a 70/30 split or 50/50. She


presented a Hotpoint product (HCIH50TI1WUK), which was priced at £499.


Karen highlighted that the model features Total No Frost Technology and she said that, as a result, the days of defrosting the freezer are over. She asked me for my postcode and, after checking


with the computer, said I could have the fridge- freezer delivered, and the old appliance taken away for recycling, for £60 and the new appliance could be with me within three days.
