CIH reveals its top suppliers for 2022, and Chairman

partnership with CIH (part of the Euronics buying group),
and the third award was all about highlighting a brand’s commitment to the independent retailer – and the winner was Liebherr. The final award – the Members’ Supplier of the Year, voted for by CIH member retailers – went to Beko/Blomberg. Mr Scogings also announced that the buying group’s new e-commerce platform – called Euronics Evolution – will launch in April next year. “The initial launch will be a few thousand extra products on the site,” he explained. “This will utilise the 600+ stores we have across the country to give the consumer a wider choice and the bonus of dealing with a local company.” He said the plan is to grow this business to rival the major online players and cement the group’s place as the best omnichannel offering in the market.
‘Taking a fresh look’ Reflecting on the year, Mr Scogings mentioned the group’s expansion into the IT sector, headed up by Steve Bailey, with the introduction of computing products including laptops, tablets and accessories from major brands – available with a next day delivery service through certain distributors in the UK. “Computing products and solutions are a perfect fit for Euronics agents,”
said Mr Scogings. “This will answer the growing need from consumers for great products supported by expert advice, support and fast delivery from its network of independent retailers.
In his speech, Mr Scogings also spoke of “taking a fresh look” at how
Euronics engages with its members to grow even further, adding about the challenges of manufacturers selling direct to consumers. “As independents we are the experts in managing consumer issues and we also deliver and install better than any third-party – as it’s our reputation on the line,” he said. “Consumers are continually choosing our members to fulfil their needs because of this second-to-none service.”
Mr Scogings concluded saying he hopes everyone can work together “to
confront this challenge” and find a solution to help everyone achieve growth. “You do not need to do direct-to-consumer to have a strong brand, and if you are willing to work with us, we can prove it,” he said.
Exclusively show space selling fast
The Exclusively show will return on 13 and 14 June 2023 at The Business Design Centre in London, and organisers have reported that exhibition space continues to sell extremely well. Seema Grantham, Show Sales Director, explained: “With just over six months to go to Exclusively, the current sales position – with the show already 88 per cent sold – just proves that this sector has lost none of its appetite for a physical opportunity to showcase products and network with the industry.” Exclusively regularly has over 140 companies and 300 brands participating,
representing all the key product categories in the housewares, small electricals, tabletop and gift sectors and many big names have been part of the show for many years. It targets international buyers, journalists, bloggers and influencers. “Visitor turnout was fabulous in 2022 so I am sure that is contributing to exhibitor enthusiasm for 2023,” Ms Grantham continued. “We have space remaining in the Gallery and the Launchpad, which is the dedicated area for new products and suppliers and designed to meet the needs of small businesses and start-ups.” Regular exhibitor, Brian Walmsley of EKO Home, added: “Exclusively provides
a great breadth and quality of retailers. It is a wonderful opportunity to showcase both existing and new products, and the Brand Showcase is also a brilliant focal point for both traditional press and influencers.”
