Eat, drink and be merry! F
or the electrical retailer, nothing says “Happy Christmas” like the sound of a ringing till as shoppers seek out the latest kitchen appliances, large and small, to give as a gift or a treat for themselves at home. “RKW products make perfect Christmas gifts,” according to James Barton, Category Director of Tower SDA (part of RKW), “especially as our Tower air fryers range from affordable to more premium model variations to suit every budget. “But this also doesn’t stop people purchasing them for themselves to help ease the stress of preparing the Christmas dinner!” And needless to say, it’s been an extremely busy time lately for the brand due to increased demand on energy-saving air fryers, slow cookers and pressure cookers. Recently launched from Tower, however, is the T17100 Vortx Vizion 9L Dual Basket Air Fryer, the T17102 Vortx Vizion Express Dual 11L Air Fryer Oven, and the T17099 Vortx Eco Dual Basket Air Fryer with 5.2L and 3.3L baskets and Tower
exclusive Vortx technology, which cooks food up to 30 per cent faster than a conventional oven, by circulating hot air around the food. Sam Trott, Product Manager at Bluestem Group,
agrees that efficiency is on everyone’s minds: “Being able to cook dinner a few nights a week without having to preheat and use the main electric oven is hugely beneficial, and the same applies to microwaves with a grill and convection function, for example; it’s another route to a cheaper, more energy-efficient household mealtime.” Igenix is one of the brands supplied by Bluestem
in the UK; its mini ovens provide extra cooking room – especially useful during the Christmas period. Compact and functional, the IG7130 and IG7145 mini ovens also feature double hotplates, allowing consumers to multi-task and have another pan bubbling away if the main hob is full. And talking of Christmas, the Party Time range from Ariete is perfect for large gatherings – the Retro Waffle Maker, Popcorn Maker and Candyfloss Maker are sure to be the talking point of any party.
For the coffee connoisseur Elsewhere, coffee machines are always a popular choice in the run up to Christmas. And L’OR has introduced its new BARISTA coffee machines, made in partnership with Philips, said to be the first UK system that is compatible with both regular single shot capsules, as well as the new and exclusive L’OR BARISTA XXL capsules. L’OR’s capsule compatibility ensures retailers can
offer capsule choice and flexibility, with customer favourites such as L’OR Espresso single shot capsules, as well as other brands – a win for the category, the brand said.
Furthermore, the new double-spout design on the BARISTA machines allows two coffees to be made at once using the new XXL capsules (available in six blends and strengths). “What tends to sell well in the build-up to Christmas is any appliance that helps when hosting people over Christmas,” says Laverne Eldridge from Strix. “And we’ve launched the Aurora Instant Hot & Cold Filtered Water Dispenser
under Swan’s Alexa Kettle Tower Air Fryer
Powered by Strix technology, it is a kettle, water cooler and water filter all in one and the only plug-and-go water dispenser on the market to deliver hot or cold filtered water on demand.” Also new is the LAICA Visione cordless induction top kettle from Strix, that would make a great gift for somebody who has made the switch to induction cooking, Ms Eldridge believes. Meanwhile, for Swan, it’s all about the Alexa kettle for 2023! The brand has teamed up with Amazon to launch the world’s first kettle of this kind – all controlled using the existing Alexa app. “Anything that is time saving or energy efficient will do well in 2023,” points out David Foulstone, Marketing Director at Swan Brand. “And this Christmas, we feel that consumers are likely to buy more thoughtful or practical gifts for loved one. So it could be a good season for SDA this year!” And back with Ariete, its Metals range of coffee machines includes a Slimline Espresso Maker at only 14cm wide, as well as bold and bright Espresso Coffee Machines in its Moderna range, “plus the Drip Coffee and Espresso Coffee Machines in the Vintage range will add a retro flair to the kitchen,” says Mr Trott.
