Best New Product – Small Domestic Appliances Winner Smeg’s BCC02 Bean-to-Cup Coffee Machine

32

Launched this year launched, the BCC02 Bean- to-Cup Coffee Machine is a small but smart gadget with an intuitive control panel. It can pour lattes, macchiatos or cappuccinos, and frothy milk can be produced at the touch of a button. “Smeg is humbled to receive such strong recognition for an excellent, growing part of our range,” said John Davies, Head of Marketing at Smeg UK.

“This machine not only stands out in terms of design, taking a contemporary twist on Smeg’s iconic 50s style, but also in terms of ease of use and performance, delivering coffee shop-standard espresso in your home.” Indeed, the BCC02 has been designed to replicate the taste of coffee shop

drinks, and the perfect brew is right at your fingertips thanks to its intuitive soft touch control. Offering an array of coffee styles and grinding levels, the BCC02 allows users to experiment and discover the optimum coffee experience. Mr Davies adds: “The ERT Awards is the recognition and culmination of hard

work from product design and development through to distribution, training and marketing. The importance of the Awards cannot be underestimated, celebrating success, sharing knowledge and working together as an industry! Our team had a fantastic day!”

Best Independent Electrical Retailer Shopfront Winner Borshch

“When we opened our Erdington store we made a statement and really wanted to shout to our local community

and all the passing customers,” explains Simon Cox, Director of Borshch. “We have been trading for 40 years this year and to receive this award for the newest of our stores is a remarkable achievement; we are so grateful for the recognition from ERT! “Having a glass building as prominent as ours on a high street on such a busy

main road is great for our business. The team work so hard to make sure our window display always looks amazing; they are changed weekly to be colourful and show all the latest stock we have to offer.” Mr Cox says that any store window gives customers their first impression of the

business; “you have to make it as attractive and eye-catching as possible,” he adds. “There are so many great companies that enter the ERT Awards. As a family business, we pride ourselves in everything we do and to be recognised for this is amazing!”

He continues: “Everyone who owns and runs a business takes great pride in it – it’s

more than a job, it’s a way of life. To be shortlisted for the hard work you do or to win an award is a great achievement. To go to London for the ERT Awards ceremony, to see friends and fellow retailers and also pick up an award makes it so special! “I was gutted to miss the Awards this year due to illness, but it’s always one for the calendar and I look forward to seeing everyone next year.”
