ERT AWARDS 2022

Best Industry Training Provider Winner Miele Training Team

Sponsored by 22

“We are really proud to win this award for the second year running! We put our hearts in to our training and it’s great to receive this recognition,” Sophie Lane, Product Training Manager at Miele GB, tells ERT. “Not only do we have outstanding appliances but we have outstanding people! Our team has a great passion for our products and we love bringing them to life during training. We believe it is really important to have a good mix of information and practical demonstrations to showcase what the appliances can do.” The Miele training team is comprised of Ms Lane and two Product Sales

Trainers; between them they build, coordinate and deliver head-office training courses, external demonstrations, field training and online learning. Throughout 2020 and the first half of 2021, the brand introduced new training initiatives in a range of formats with virtual learning taking the lead. This is being continued alongside physical events at Miele’s three Experience Centres in Abingdon, London and Edinburgh. Training videos have been used a lot and a Miele Training Hub has been created

on YouTube. The videos are offered as a supplementary learning solution to those who are unable to attend live session or for those interested in further learning. In addition, the company’s new and improved E-learning portal allows partners access – via desktop, mobile or tablet – to a full range of interactive online learning modules. And talking of her time at the ERT Awards this year, Ms Lane remarks: “As always, the Awards was great fun and fantastically well organised! It is such a valuable way to catch up with our peers in the industry and make new connections.”

Sales Excellence Award Winner Heidi Grover, Avensys

Prior to joining Avensys, Ms Grover used to work at a Sony Centre, so her confidence and product knowledge has made her one of the store’s top sales people. And when Avensys moved into selling fitted kitchens she jumped at the chance to head up the department and her passion for design shone through. Ms Grover has grown this

part of the business to £600,000 turnover with the help of her

excellent design skills. Martin Jukes, Head of Retail at Avensys, says her predicted sales for the next 12 months will push close to £1 million! “Heidi’s passion for the job and her love of the business has made her a firm favourite with our customers. She continues to get the best reviews in the company. She’s a jewel in the Avensys crown!” Talking about her win, Ms Grover reveals it was a complete shock when her

name was announced… “I told myself not to expect much, as this was my first nomination for such an award and there were many other hard-working individuals who deserved to win. So I wasn’t expecting it at all!” She adds that the industry has seen a lot of change in recent years, but her ability

to adapt and try new things is what she thinks made her stand out. “I had to step outside of my comfort zone and yet remain as someone our customers can rely on.” Ms Grover believes the ERT Awards is an important event to showcase how established retailers and manufacturers can be adaptive and innovative in this ever- changing market.

And of her coveted Awards trophy, she adds: “I’m sure my MD would prefer to have this in the store trophy cabinet! But right now, it’s at home in my office!”
