Best New Product – Consumer Electronics Winner Sony’s BRAVIA A95K Master Series TV


The A95K has been a particularly popular product amongst critics this


year, 28 as Sony’s


flagship 4K QD-OLED TV. The combination of the BRAVIA tech with the processing power of the Cognitive


Processor XR


provides a wide palette of colours, which are exceptionally vivid and realistic at all brightness levels. In


addition, the A95K


contains Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology, which uses special actuators to turn the screen into a multi-channel speaker. David Andrews, Specialist Sales Channel Head at Sony, reveals to ERT: “It’s a real achievement to be presented with an important award from a such a trusted source – and for the second year in a row! “The competition gets hotter every year, so we always have to put our best foot


forward to create consistently remarkable technology. We must continue to push each other to achieve better year upon year, and the ERT Awards does exactly that.” Mr Andrews speaks of the key relationship between the manufacturers and the


retailers in this industry, saying that “without events like the ERT Awards, we might find it more difficult to maintain and build upon these important connections.” The wider Sony team were very excited to hear about this win, he explains, and for its customers and the wider industry the brand’s website has been updated to publicise the accolade and show that the A95K specifically was voted as Best New Product – Consumer Electronics for 2022.

Best Independent Consumer Electronics Retailer – Large Winner The Powerhouse (Jersey Electricity)


Occupying a former power station site in Jersey, Channel Islands, Powerhouse (Jersey Electricity) is a 12,500sq ft ‘out of town’ retail park style store offering MDA, SDA, TV, cook shop and smart home, as well as cameras, gaming and even electric bikes.


Operating on and serving the island alone for over 95 years, the independent


retailer has not stood still and constantly tries to stay ahead of the market. In the past 12 months, it has extended its offering in growing categories like electric transport and home fitness and wellbeing products. The company has also invested in its TV servicing and smart CCTV installation, and in the coming year it looks to become an appliances service agent as well. Sarah Naylor and Caine Mundy are Category Managers for the business. Speaking to ERT about their win, the pair comment that Powerhouse continuously strives to demonstrate its core values in its day-to-day culture, and they believe this has played a crucial role in the company’s success. “Collectively all the ERT Awards finalists are the best of electrical retail and we are honoured to have won this award this year!


“If someone said 10 years ago we’d have won this national award, it would have


seemed impossible! Then five years ago we set it as a goal, and now it is a reality and a prestigious achievement that our team are very proud of!” Ms Naylor and Mr Mundy also add that the Turning Point Live Conference is full of useful information to take back to the store to help develop the business. “As a retailer on a nine-by-five-mile island,” they say, “events like this can be very eye-opening and help us to identify new opportunities for growth and the latest market trends across the Channel.” They
