The new transactional site allowed customers to shop directly with the retailer and it is constantly updating and improving the checkout pages to make them even more user-friendly. After the launch, NE reported a 28 per cent increase in customers completing their transactions on the site.
But not sitting still, the appliances dealer is expanding its digital marketing activities (such as introducing influencers) and is currently making further investments in SEO and a new CRM system. “We concentrated on user experience and speed to make sure the new site
worked as efficiently and effectively as possible,” explains NE Appliances Managing Director, Ben Gilks. “We built on what we knew worked and made the site both look and feel slicker, helping to set us apart from our competition. “It’s been a huge project for us; our Website Manager, Holly, has been working non-stop to keep improving and developing the site.”
Mr Gilks says since launching the new site he and his team have been learning and constantly improving it… “We are so proud to have all that hard work recognised by ERT! And now we can say we’ve got one of the best electrical retailer websites out there! “The ERT Awards is always a highlight of our year; the opportunity to mix with other industry professionals and celebrate the industry as a whole is always worthwhile.”
Best Independent Kitchen Retailer Showroom Winner
Martins of Hawkhurst Sponsored by
Martins of Hawkhurst has been in business for nearly 50 years. The retailer offers a free design service, and either supply-only or full installation using kitchen fitters that have worked with the business for many years. During lockdown the showroom was closed, but Director, John Martin, took the advantage to redesign the displays ready for a refurbishment. Many of the appliances are now live for demonstration and the retailer also offers cooking events. Picking up the trophy for ‘Retailer Showroom’, which was one of the new
categories at this year’s ERT Awards, Mr Martin says the whole team are “very proud” to be the winners… “We were genuinely shocked to be announced from the list of finalists,” he adds.
“It’s amazing and we are still on cloud nine! The trophy is in pride of place front and centre as you walk into the showroom!” Reminiscing about the day, Mr Martin says it was good to meet up with fellow
retailers and manufacturers, as well as making new connections. “We really enjoyed the event.” And further…“It’s so important to recognise every aspect of this industry, as
the ERT Awards not only rewards excellence but examples of good practice all the way through from design, manufacture and supply to product knowledge, customer service and customer experience.” Mr Martin believes he offers a unique showroom with many different kitchen
styles and finishes. “Our friendly and informative staff add to the experience and customers get a real sense of who we are and what we are about from the moment they step through the door.”
