s a continued sponsor of the BMJ Industry Awards – an awards programme judged by those working in the sector every day – Brett Martin remains firmly committed to recognising excellence across the merchant industry. For Sales Director Chris Dawson, the event is not just a celebration, but a reminder of the standards the industry sets – and the responsibility to keep raising the bar.
“The BMJ Industry Awards shine a spotlight on the best our sector has to offer,” he says. “For us, being part of it means continually earning our place alongside the people and businesses shaping the future of construction.”

Sustainability continues to play an integral role in Brett Martin’s long-term strategy. Significant investment in renewable energy has transformed operations at its Mallusk manufacturing facility, where a 100m wind turbine and dedicated solar farm together deliver substantial reductions in carbon emissions. These initiatives are complemented by a biodiversity management programme, developing local habitats and reinforcing the company’s commitment to responsible manufacturing. Today, renewable sources account for more than half of the site’s total energy consumption – a milestone that reflects both progress made and ambitions for the future. “Reducing our environmental impact isn’t a one-off initiative – it’s an ongoing commitment,” says Chris. “We’re continually looking at how we can do more.”
Staying ahead
Alongside service and sustainability, innovation remains central to Brett Martin’s growth. Continued investment in research and development is ensuring its product ranges evolve in line with changing regulations, customer needs and construction practices. Recent developments include the launch of Adopta, a range designed specifically for adoptable sewer projects. Covering pipes, fittings and inspection chambers, the system has been developed to meet the varying regulatory requirements across England, Scotland and Wales, giving merchants and contractors a compliant, easy-to-spec solution.
Looking ahead
With further investment planned across manufacturing, systems and logistics, Brett Martin is focused on strengthening its support for merchants while continuing to produce quality products. “As an industry, we’re constantly evolving,” Chris concludes. “By combining strong partnerships, forward-thinking and a clear commitment to sustainability, we’re in a great position to keep supporting our customers – and to keep championing the vital role merchants play in their local areas and the wider economy.”
