Founded in 1874 by James Thomas Sydenham in Poole, Dorset, Sydenhams was acquired in the 1920s by John Sherborne and the business has remained in the family for over 100 years, now in the hands of our Joint Chairmen and brothers; James & Charles Sherborne.

In 2023 it moved the Guernsey branch to a larger site, opening for business in September, increasing the offering to customers on the island. It also extended Timber Engineering capability by expanding the Wickham site with a new factory and state of the art truss press.

platform, has continued, with better technology solutions underpinning our service improvements.

“Having introduced Jewson’s new branding at our flagship live event series – Jewson Live On Tour last April, we opened our first Jewson ‘branch of the future’ in Bridgwater in late Spring and our first purpose-built one in Farnborough last October; the same month, we also launched Jewson Craigentinny, bringing a new style of distribution service to customers in the Edinburgh area,” Carter continues. “We will open Jewson Luton later in the year, which will be our biggest flagship operation to date, and there will be a broader

property investment programme rolling out over the next two years.”

There are now three flagship Jewson Partnership Solutions (JPS) AVAIL Hubs supporting the local authority and social housing sector, and the Major Build Solutions business customers are benefiting from the network of six dedicated facilities. In Jersey, the group has committed a significant investment in its Five Oaks site; and the branch improvement programme is also continuing at pace across JP Corry, the Northern Ireland based business and Minster and Frazer, the group’s specialist trade propositions.
