Mr E.H. Smith established EH Smith in 1922, transforming a business supplying jute sacks and bulk bagged cement from a railway sidings in Small Heath, Birmingham, into a builder’s merchants operation. The company now operates from 11 trading locations throughout the Midlands and South East. It stocks over 30,000 lines of quality building supplies and trade products from general building supplies, bricks & specialist masonry to timber products, civil engineering solutions, painting and decorating, kitchens and bathrooms.

Covers has supplied a diverse range of timber and building materials to a wide spectrum of customers for over 175 years. It has 15 branch locations spread across the South of England, strtching from Canterbury (Wingham Timber) in the East to Bexleyheath in South London, and Southampton and Gosport in Hampshire
The company imports timber directly from the source and has timber mills equipped to produce joinery and mouldings. Stress grading, house lot packages and preservative treatments are also available in-house.

Carvers operates from two 10- acre sites. The Littles Lane site in Wolverhampton features a fully-stocked builders merchant branch, Carvers DIY showroom, a landscaping centre and a drivethrough warehouse for building materials.
This year it has also renovated the kitchen and bathroom showroom offer at Littles Lane, launching Carvers Interiors, a brand specialising in luxury bathrooms, kitchens, cookers and tiles.
The Neachells Lane site in Wednesfield is a specialist timber production and storage facility.
