GLASSWARE

A look at glass decoration

Steve Platt, managing director at EP Brands, provides an insight into Cerve Group’s expertise in glass decoration and what consumers are looking for in their glassware.

E

P Brands are the largest commercial managers in the UK for eight of the leading glassware manufacturers from across Europe. We manage the trade supply of their tabletop, glassware, and giftware ranges direct to their retail trade customers in the UK market, without the need for a distributor or wholesaler. This offers the most efficient and lowest supply price to the glassware and tabletop sector. We also prominently work on private label projects for key independent and national retail chains in the UK. From superior workmanship

to state-of-the-art machines designed by our engineers, Cerve Group is a world leader in mechanical and decorative applications to glass. With 4500 satisfied customers, 75 export markets and over one million units produced daily, the same high standards set by “Cerve in Italia” are applied to all our products regardless of the collections they stem from. Cerve is owned by the Bormioli family dynasty that dates back 1000 years when their glass was found in the courts of Europe. Today, CEO and president Giovanni Bormioli is focused on a proactive and sustainable production approach to deliver on-trend and high-quality products to market. Our secret stems from traditional elements such as the love and passion we have put into every piece since 1954. Current trends in glassware are seeking the evolution of lustre decoration. Our head designer, Matteo Amoretti creates fantastic designs which include eight colour silk screen printing, organic colours, ceramic colours, thermofusible colours (colour change), relief 3D printing, base printing, metallic printing, glitter ink printing and laser engraving. There are three core elements to our products: a refined design, well-run manufacturing process and strict controls of minor details. All products undergo strict design procedures requiring state of art graphics, and no product leaves the factory until it has passed our final quality control. Currently, there are three clear demands from consumers. The first is the demand for quality which we have always delivered on. All of Cerve’s products are dishwasher safe and our customers can guarantee that they do not have to compromise on quality when they purchase our

products. To this day, we have long-standing partnerships with national chains because of the durability of our products. Secondly, consumers are focused on trend design. Businesses must be aware of the ever- changing trends within the market. Amoretti regularly embarks on trips worldwide to capture and embrace new consumer trends. Gaining inspiration from his travels, he produces 25 new designs each year. Last but not least, consumers are looking for an experience, they want to get something out of a product that they cannot get anywhere else. We have catered to this demand with our pioneering colour changing feature. Cerve is the only company in the world that can decorate glass that is both dishwasher safe and changes colour when hot or cold liquid is poured in.
