Ventilation
Taking things to the next level
Electrical wholesalers are used to selling a large volume of standard 4-inch fans. But are wholesalers making the most of this popular product? By learning about the latest premium fans and educating their customers, wholesalers can really maximise sales, while benefitting themselves, their customers and end users. Tom Wodcke, Product Marketing Manager from Vent-Axia explains the many benefits of stocking premium fans.
T
here are many 4-inch fans on the market offering a wide range of great features, so how do wholesalers choose which to stock? Some electricians are price focused, which
may mean premium fans are not their first choice, but for wholesalers these fans offer a great opportunity to grow their business. It is vital that wholesalers are aware of their options. This way, they can
talk to electricians about the available options, since this may offer the opportunity to upsell from an entry level fan. By finding out about the latest fans on the market, wholesalers will be in a great position to explain the many benefits to electricians. Consumer attitudes are changing and affecting electricians’ choice of
fans. Popular consumer requests now include a fan that “looks good”, “isn’t noisy” and clears the room of steam and smells quickly. And this is where premium fans excel, since they tick all these boxes and more.
A healthy silence One great selling point for wholesalers that has been in the news is the health benefits of installing ventilation that provides good indoor air quality (IAQ). This is recommended by the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in its draft guidance ‘Indoor Air Quality at Home’; and by the Government in its Clean Air strategy. But good IAQ alone isn’t enough. Households want to use their
bathrooms in peace and quiet and this just isn’t possible with noisy unitary fans. Some households are so irritated by the noise that they turn off their fan altogether, potentially leading to mould growth and poor IAQ which can lead to ill health. This has led to manufacturers investing in continually improving
bathroom extractor fan acoustics. For example, the Vent-Axia PureAir Sense has whisper quiet operation of just 19dB(A) and the Lo-Carbon Svara operates at just 17 dB(A) on trickle, so households can relax knowing that they will be breathing in healthy air, undisturbed. Premium fans also provide the latest in intelligent control. There is
even a fan on the market that features Odour Sense Technology and so ‘smells’ air pollution. Designed to improve the air households breathe, the unique Vent-Axia PureAir Sense is equipped with a pioneering odour sensor that increases airflow when the air is poor, helping ensure a comfortable living environment. When the sensor detects a strong odour, the fan speed increases and quickly extracts the odour.
