Aging gracefully
Ironically, high quality and long life can mean that outdoor lighting remain exposed to the elements long enough to suffer corrosion. You may have spotted those tell-tale ‘rust’ marks below lights. So, knowing that its products will almost always be mounted for many years – and certainly a lot longer than the three years that we guarantee them all for – Timeguard decided to make sure corrosion needn’t be a problem for its users.
The rust-resistant range eliminates all componentry that is prone to corrosion, replacing it with marine grade materials. The heat sink, for instance, is the biggest metallic
component and that is made of aluminium. In designing the brackets to avoid having any screws and fittings that might rust, Timeguard opted for stainless steel. That also enabled the opportunity to create a curved design with greater scope for panning. These rust-resistant models are the ideal option for consistently damp and salty, coastal areas – and remember no-one is further than 70 miles/113 km from the coastal waters in this nation! The corrosion- free designs have been another success for Timeguard, so this year it has given the rust- resistant overhaul to new models in its wide-beam range of floodlights.
Even lighting
Of course, wide beam floodlighting with LED is in itself an innovation, and one that Timeguard pioneered in this market. The dot-like nature of LED arrays means that they emit straight beams of light, rather than flooding and area evenly, creating a rather harsh effect. We overcame this with smart lens and reflector plate design, to deliver an even light of a quality that will not be found at the low-end of the market.
