Franchisee Spotlight It could be you!
Raspinder Singh, franchisee for home care franchise Caremark (Dartford and Gravesham) decided to make the leap from the cut and thrust world of fi nancial management and start his own Caremark home care business in Kent
A
lthough already successful in the corporate world, Raspinder knew from early on that this was not where he wanted to be. Making the change, therefore, was easy for him since he already had friends and family connected to the care sector. This, in turn,
led him to think about operating a home care business. Raspinder says: “For many years I have been searching for a
diff erent path. Having had a religious upbringing, I have found that my Sikh faith has taught me that if you combine your work (karam) with your faith (daram), then you will live a fulfi lling life. “I researched the top care providers and then when I met the
Caremark head offi ce team my decision was made easy. The rest is history.” From the outset, Raspinder busied himself meeting people and
has already forged a network of those who work within and around the care sector, ensuring his business is always visible. “Our business is built around community presence and having connections with the right people in the right places. We are actively involved with the elderly community in our area and are working to relieve some of the stress of organising homecare, as well as educating our community in respect of what we do. Our charity work is another means of us giving back to our community as well.” Three months in and he is already busy with a growing number of clients. He says: “Various healthcare professionals are also seeking our services and we continue to build relationships across the area. “The feedback we have received from clients has been exceptional and this is driving much of our private work. My vision is to become the number-one provider in our area and to continue growing in an area where outstanding care is really needed.”
Could it be you? What Caremark looks for in potential franchisees is passion for the industry, drive, ambition and an ability to build, manage and lead a team of people. Management experience is valuable, as is being able to communicate with all sorts of people – networking and forging relationships is a key part of growing and developing a Caremark business. With Caremark’s comprehensive training and support, franchisees
are given business development guidance from day one from the team at head offi ce and then from its fi eld-based skilled professionals, giving them the best start to their business. Business development guidance is ongoing, enabling each franchisee to grow and remain compliant. Caremark franchisees love what they do. Although they are all
diff erent people they hold one thing in common: a passion for care. It goes without saying, though, that franchisees must have plenty of ambition and enthusiasm to grow and drive their own business!
