Move into health W
hy choose healthcare over any other franchise industry? Healthcare is a steadfast industry that will always be in demand.
During 2016, the total expenditure on healthcare in the UK was £191.7billion – a 3.6 per cent increase on the previous year. With the UK population predicted to hit the 74-million mark in the next 20 years, healthcare expenditure will continue to rise as the level of demand grows. The population of 65- to 84-year-olds is also set to grow by 39 per cent over the next 20 years as a result of the increase in life expectancy. This, too, is set to prompt a swell in demand for both public and private healthcare services. The outcome is that businesses operating in this industry will be in the perfect position to meet the growing need.
Established in 1989, Kare Plus is capable of meeting the growing demand and complexity within the health sector. It specialises in supplying nurses, healthcare assistants and ancillary staff to private and public healthcare settings, including hospitals, nursing homes and customers’ own homes. The support that Kare Plus staff provides is essential to maintaining the safety of its patients.
“Head offi ce support assists franchise owners with compliance, marketing, payroll, contract developments and more”
Group CEO and owner Steve Welsh
recognised the possibilities within the growing healthcare industry. Driven by personal experiences of family members receiving sub-standard care, Steve realised that if a company could deliver a quality- driven service, supported by technology and with high standards of care, effi ciently, reliably and eff ectively, then that business could be highly profi table and potentially change many lives.
“I had personal experience of sub-
standard care provision, including one company that repeatedly failed to make appointments on time to care for close family members. This caused many issues and eventually injury, as my relative fell trying to do a job that the carer was meant to. Along with the huge potential to build a solid, profi table business, these experiences were the main catalyst for the concept of Kare Plus.” Detailed research led to the purchase
of a Kare Plus franchise, then from the original founder, when Kare Plus was merely a network of three. Steve identifi ed the changes needed to make the service better. He eventually managed to purchase the business in its entirety, thus becoming the second Kare Plus franchisor, albeit one with a huge vison and the desire to take the Kare Plus brand to a whole new level. Kare Plus has now expanded to a network of more than 90 UK businesses – as well as a number of international developments – all carrying that core principle of high-quality care delivered by compassionate and caring healthcare professionals.
So why should you choose Kare Plus? Kare Plus works with each new franchisee from the very beginning of their journey. The new franchisee undergoes a week-

long intensive training course designed to introduce them to the healthcare industry. Once the training course has fi nished, new franchisees are then assigned a business development manager who will work alongside them as they establish their franchise. The support provided by Kare Plus
doesn’t end there. The head offi ce support team assists franchise owners with a number of business functions, including compliance, marketing, payroll and contract developments, as well as providing an extensive library of supporting documentation on an ongoing basis. Extensive support, fi scal opportunity and a high chance of success are all excellent reasons to join the healthcare industry, but many Kare Plus franchise owners join based on an ideal, the same one that Steve Welsh had 10 years ago: making a diff erence and creating positive change in local communities on a national scale.
