WOMEN IN FRANCHISING

Visiting Angels:A very personal journey…

was to take back control. I put a lot of time and effort into launching the business as you would expect with any new venture. Now the trajectory of the business is heading upwards and I feel confident I’ve got the tools to keep progressing. “The work-life balance I have

now is great. I can switch off when I need to and enjoy my down time. I’m a really outdoorsy person and have three dogs, so getting out into the countryside in our campervan is something I love to do. If I want to take a long weekend off, it’s great knowing my business allows me to do that.”

Scaling up the future For Brenda, her immediate goal is to be in the top 100 Action Coaches globally. However, her biggest passion is to continue her work with female entrepreneurs. “Roughly one-third of

entrepreneurs in the UK are female, and men are five times more likely to scale their business up above £1 million. Through ActionCOACH, I have the tools to address this imbalance and really enjoy focusing my efforts towards working with female entrepreneurs. I’ve got my own podcast called Scale Her Up: The Female Entrepreneur Show, which is full of great ways to build up a business. “Being able to impart my

knowledge and see it having positive results on those I work with is just one of the many reasons why becoming a franchise partner with ActionCOACH is one of the best things I’ve ever done.” For more information about

F

or Roxie Taj becoming franchisee for Visiting Angels Manchester East was a

special undertaking. She says: “It wasn't just a career move, it was a personal commitment born out of a challenging experience with my daughter's care. Having witnessed shortcomings in the system, I made a promise to change the landscape of social care, not just for my child but for others too.

“e y s  franchisee is ieren” “Before venturing into

franchising, my background ranged from voluntary work in the Fire Service to Business Administration. However, it was the challenges in finding consistent and quality care for my daughter that fuelled my passion for social care. “The onboarding process

with Visiting Angels was seamless and exciting. From initial discussions to meeting the entire team at Head Office during training, the journey took several months but was pressure-free and at my pace. The initial training was a blend of fun and information, featuring Q&A sessions with existing franchisees that showcased the transparency Visiting Angels maintains. Ongoing support has been consistent, with an Area Development Manager always just a phone call away, and regular updates on training and changes in legislation.

“The early days of trading

were marked by hard work in marketing and networking to establish brand awareness. Today, our business thrives on word of mouth, a testament to the quality of service we provide. One standout moment was when a client, impressed with our approach, painted an oil painting of an angel, and personally presented it to me in acknowledgment of the impact we had made. “Every day as a franchisee

is different, with mornings dedicated to marketing, afternoons to office admin and staff interviews, and everything else fitting in between. While life has been taken over by Visiting Angels, the work-life balance is gradually finding equilibrium. “My advice to aspiring

franchisees is simple: stick to the model religiously. It's tried and tested, and at Visiting Angels, the focus is on supporting individuals to adapt better to their care, rather than adapting the care to suit the individual. It's been a remarkable year, and the future looks even more promising for Visiting Angels and its franchisees.” 
