Apprenticeship or university?

It’s still, though, not a straightforward, cut-and-dried question of whether to earn or learn when it comes to embarking on an apprenticeship or degree. Apprentices are expected to learn on the job and there is a high chance this will involve an amount of study. Similarly, if you're thinking of becoming a full-time


student, well, the majority of undergraduates will take on paid work in the summer holidays and other times outside of term, or part time when they are attending uni, depending on the demands of their course. It's worth remembering that gaining even the smallest amount of real-life experience from even a Saturday job cannot be underestimated in terms of useful skills it will transfer. While the world of work isn't just about money, it's something you'll want to consider whether as a student

Lifestyle Going to university or joining a company as an apprentice will largely determine how you'll spend the majority of your time over the next few years, what friends you'll make and where, so it's fair to say that the impact of your decision will be felt across a few areas of your life. It's important to bear in mind, however, that it's your decision about what you do next and although it's good to seek advice from family and friends, the choices will influence your future, not theirs, and are your own to make. Traditionally, uni life has been as much about the


experience of being a student: joining societies, sports teams or political parties, as well as meeting people from different walks of life and regions and enjoying a full social life among a lot of other young people, particularly
