“The mix of universities and degree apprenticeships is great” Parent

Help is at hand! W

hen it comes to deciding on a career path afer school or college, there

seem to be more options than ever before. Should you follow the academic route and progress to higher education, should you combine education and get work experience at the same time with a degree apprenticeship, or should you go straight into the workplace with an apprenticeship scheme? These are just a few of the routes that school leavers can take, so equipping them and their parents with the necessary information to make an informed choice is vital.

The What University? & What Career? Live events bring together the UK’s top employers and universities so that students, parents and teachers can assess all the options side by side, under one roof.

Taking place in Birmingham and London, What University? & What Career? Live run on both Friday and Saturday and are free to attend.

Apprenticeships The UK’s leading employers will be recruiting for a variety of apprenticeship schemes at the event. Companies at the 2023 events include Aon, BT Group, E.ON, J. P. Morgan, Jaguar Land Rover, Health Careers (NHS), The Royal Navy and many more. Companies will be there to provide information about the apprenticeship programmes available and answer questions from visitors about the application process, career progression and the skills they will acquire while working and earning.

Advisers are on hand to offer key advice on the different types of apprenticeships available and how young people can ‘get in and go far’ with an apprenticeship at some of Britain’s biggest and brightest companies.

Universities For students considering higher education, representatives from universities across the UK will offer

advice on how to apply, student fees, employability rates, what courses are available and student life.

Universities at the 2023 events include Birmingham City University, Cardiff University, City University London, Loughborough University, Newcastle University, University of Oxford, University of Southampton and many more.

Visitors also benefit from speaking with careers experts and hearing talks offering practical advice and industry insights. Over 60 free presentations and workshops will take place throughout the two days, with hands- on activities including the Future Skills workshops and a CV Clinic.

Students are encouraged to treat the experience as a job interview, dress smartly, plan the questions they are going to ask exhibitors on the day... and, most of all, have fun! l
