Jeyes of Earls Barton
A celebration of fl avours, food, drink and entrepreneurial spirit
Jeyes of Earls Barton has been rewarded for its forward- thinking initiatives, business acumen and unwavering passion at T e Gifts Awards 2025. In May, owners Georgina, Philippa and Anna Jeyes
attended a glittering awards evening at The Royal Lancaster, Hyde Park where they were announced winners of the Best National Gift Retailer Within A Visitor Attraction award. Despite being up against some of the country’s fi nest, including Blenheim Palace Gift Shop, Savill’s of Windsor Great Park and T e Natural History Museum, the Earls Barton venue was recognised as the best within this category – a remarkable honour for the family-run business.
Another successful part of the business is The
Apothocoffee Shop, a bustling hub within Jeyes that captures Northamptonshire's growing buzz for great food and drink. T e warm and friendly surroundings include six diff erent indoor and outdoor dining areas, making it an ideal venue for everything from casual lunches and business meetings to special occasions. The coffee shop has an extensive drinks and food
menu, many dishes celebrating Jeyes’ award-winning Northamptonshire products. Georgina Jeyes said: “In 2021, we discovered the recipe for JEYES’S Northamptonshire Sauce, originally produced by Philadelphus Jeyes at 6 T e Drapery, Northampton in 1853. T is historical culinary delicacy was recreated, improved by modern day ingredients and produced locally for us by Steve Reid of Friars Farm.
“Today, we have created a delicious range of savoury
and sweet products, from award-winning tomato ketchup, barbecue sauce, chutney, jam and a selection of chocolates – all our products off ering a taste of Northamptonshire heritage and a fl avour to remember.” Georgina, Philippa and Anna are instrumental in
promoting Northamptonshire's rich heritage, diverse food off erings and venues and by collaborating with local producers and chefs, showcase the best of what the region has to off er. Philippa said: “We are actively involved in all the exciting events that are happening across the county this year, including the commemoration events for T e Great Fire of Northampton, Northamptonshire Food & Drink Week, showcasing at all the major food festivals and T e Women’s Rugby World Cup.” As Northampton commemorates The Great Fire of
1675, its rebuilding and regeneration, the heat was on for the Jeyes family to create a mustard. Georgina said: “Nothing ‘cuts the mustard’ like its fi ery
taste and unique texture from the ‘kick’ of the original JEYES’S Northamptonshire Sauce, created in the cellars of Philadephus’s Chymist and Druggist’ opposite All Saints Church. T e building had been an apothecary since 1635, its cellars and beams surviving T e Great Fire.” Northamptonshire’s commemoration celebrations
began in May with the Oak Apple Day parade and service at All Saints Church. Anna said: “To support the county with their cultural events, we offi cially launched JEYES’S Northamptonshire Mustard and after the ceremony, county leaders and community spectators were treated to sausage bites dunked in JEYES’S Northamptonshire Mustard. We were pleased to support this county-wide period of refl ection, it was a special day for people to mark the past whilst looking ahead to the future.”
