1. No upfront fees Only repay when you are earning over £25,000 per year.
2. Financial Support available for eligible undergraduates
You can apply for tuition fee loans and maintenance loans to pay for your studies.
3. You apply to the Student Loans Company Student finance for undergraduates: Overview -

You will need to apply via SLC for your loans and they will inform you how much you are entitled to.
4. Part-time courses
If you study part-time you can still access tuition fee loans and may be able to apply for maintenance loans.
5. PGCE Bursaries
Bursaries are available for a number of PGCE’s via the Department for Education (DfE), visit

7. Alumni discount for Master’s courses
A 10% discount will be available to Birmingham Newman alumni who have completed a full undergraduate degree or PGCE course, enrolling on a Master’s degree programmes. A 10% discount is available to those enrolling on a Master’s degree programme, who are currently employed by a Birmingham Newman University partnership school. Visit

8. Doctoral Loans
Postgraduate Doctoral Loans are available for eligible students, visit

9. Studentships
A small number of studentships funded by Birmingham Newman are available for research degrees, giving you financial help towards your living expenses. Funding may also be available from a range of research councils, charitable foundations and government departments. Visit
newman.ac.uk/research for a list of organisations that may be able to help fund your research project.
10. Additional financial support
For students with a recognised disability, Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA) may be available to help with buying the equipment or personal support you need to facilitate your studies. DSA is not a loan and you do not have to repay anything. You can apply for DSA funding via the Student Loans Company at
www.slc.co.uk. Students may be eligible for additional financial support, in the form of grants, if you are studying a full-time undergraduate course and you are a parent.
Birmingham Newman manages a discretionary Birmingham Newman Support Fund which can help if you find yourself in financial difficulty. Check our website for more information.
11. Additional costs
There may be some additional costs associated with your course including field trips, placement costs, purchasing of books, DBS checks, and clothing for sports courses. There may also be further costs such as a TV licence for those living in halls. Visit the course page for details on any associated costs.
