Audrey Nuna headpiece Awon Golding • designer Robert Wun • Audrey Nuna wore a couture white coat by Robert Wun titled The Pigment, a piece that imagines the effect of UV light revealing the stains of the past through 15,000 meticulously placed crystal beads. The concept extended to her striking Awon Golding hat, adorned with matching embellishments that amplified the impact.
The MET Gala was held on the iconic first Monday in May, with the red carpet unfolding across the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This year’s exhibition,
Costume Art, showcases nearly 400 artefacts spanning 5,000 years of history, centring on the dressed body and exploring pairings between fashion and artworks that reveal a spectrum of connections and experiences. The evening embraced Fashion Is Art as the dress code, inviting guests to interpret the theme through creative, art-inspired expression. Costume Art is on display
at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 099 until 10 January 2027.
Sam Smith headpiece Stephen Jones Millinery • designer Christian Cowan • Sam Smith showcased a statement 52-pound beaded gown designed by Christian Cowan, adorned with a pheasant and a jet headdress by Stephen Jones. The look drew inspiration from pioneer fashion illustrator Erté, echoing his dramatic, elongated forms and theatrical ornamentation.
Naomi Osaka headpiece Awon Golding • designer Robert Wun • Naomi Osaka made a striking entrance in a balloon-sleeved coat with scarlet detailing and a custom-shaped hat by Awon Golding. Stylist Marty Harper described this outer layer as symbolic of the body, with the red elements suggesting blood emerging through a piercing. During a live styling transformation, the white cape was removed to reveal a red gown beneath, representing the body’s muscle structure.
Katy Perry
headpiece Miodrag Guberinic • designer Stella McCartney • Katy Perry wore a strapless, square- neckline white gown paired with a face-obscuring Miodrag Guberinic headpiece reminiscent of a fencing helmet. Designed to prompt viewers to consider how perception can mask truth, the look served as a meta- commentary on AI and the surge of viral deepfakes. The ensemble was curated by stylist Tatiana Waterford.
