Jonny’s band now he bi

EXCLUSIVE by Faiza Afzaal

IT’S success at last for “Avenue” - the boy band fronted by Clitheroe’s singing sensa tion Jonny Lloyd - who have landed them selves a cool seven-figure record deal. Up-and-coming popstar Jonny (25), along

with his band members, came under the national spotlight last year after being booted off Britain’s biggest and fiercely contested TV talent contest “X-Factor” for breaching show rules. The five-strong group, who had managed to

make it through to the “bootcamp” stages of the televised competition, were disqualified after it was revealed they had been formed by British pop mogul Ashley Tabor. Three months later and in a remarkable

twist of fate, the lads have been celebrating after signing a recording contract worth more than £lm. with the reno\vned Global Talent Group - taking many music pundits by sur prise. The group was snapped up by the London-

based company, which is behind the success of Grammy and BRIT Award nominee and British soul singer Corinne Bailey Rae and “X- Factor” wnner 2005 Shayne Ward and many more famous artists. Earlier this week, a spokesman for Global

Talent Group confirmed the news and said: “The band is due to release its first single this

Lloyd, of Mortimers, Clitheroe, and his wife, Anne. Mr Lloyd says he is delighted with the news.

“We have always supported Jonny and knew he would get there one day. We are very proud of him and thrilled that it’s finally looking up for him and his band members.” Speaking exclusively to the Clitheroe Adver

tiser and Times on Tuesday, Jonny said: “Good things come to those who wait. “I’m chuffed to be back on track and the lads

and I can’t wait to record our first single. “The last sk months have been a rollercoast

er for us after what happened on the X-Factor, but we believe exciting times lie ahead and we are really looking forward to the future, which hopefully should be very successful.” The group is remaining tight-lipped about

the type of music it is going to perform, how ever promises fans it will be bringing out some of the best tunes that they are likely to hear. Jonny has a string of musical accolades and

summer, with an album to follow later in the year.” In order to meet the requirements of their

gmelling schedule, the boys are currently house hunting close to their recording studio in North London and if they weren’t busy enough, their management has requested they find a pad on an “Avenue” - no roads allowed! Jonny, pictured, an ex-pupil of Clitheroe Royal Grammar School, is the son of Ian

achievements under his belt, including a Provost and Bishop’s award, attained as head chorister at St Helen’s Church, Waddington, five years’ training at the Mary Waddington School of Dance in Clitheroe, a BTEC in Per forming Arts from Preston College and two years’ advanced training at Phil Winston’s Theatre Works in Blackpool. The gifted entertainer is no stranger to the

world of stardom. He has already supported a lengthy list of nationally-known acts.
