demonstrator a t one of the club’s lunches, Carl was invit ed to become an honorary member. He now regularly attends club events and was among those who hosted a stand at the December lunch, which raised £6,000. That total was boosted the

following day when a literary event featuring Santa Monte- fiore, the sister of former “It” girl "Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, plus, Patrick Jepson, a former private secretary to Princess Diana, which made another £ 1,000. A big supporter of Vivienne

Westwood, Carl Wilde is hop ing to organise an event on behalf of the luncheon club in

the new year featuring the eccentric fashion designer. He is also planning to attend

one of the club’s big events of 2005, a dinner at Fortnum and Mason’s, London, at which he will be rubbing shoulders with fellow celebrity guests. These are set to include Neil

and Christine Hamilton, June Whitfield, Roy Hudd and Rib- ble Valley MP Nigel Evans. Altogether 100 people are due to travel south to dine in style in the capital and raise money for a good cause. Other plans include a two-

counties lunch to be hosted at the home of luncheon club chairman Penny Green in Staffordshire. The club continues to go

from strength to strength and to provide additional support for its charity work, Mrs Karen Weaving, the club’s sec retary, is looking to launch a Skipton-based Yorkshire branch. She hopes this wall boost the

funds raised by the club, which will be celebrating its seventh year in 2005. Anyone interested in becom

ing a member should contact Mrs Weaving on 01756 700100.

Band brings festive cheer

CHRISTMAS carols and mince pie night at Clitheroe Golf Club was a cracking affair with members of Clitheroe Town Band, under the guid ance of conductor Bill Carter, playing a varied selection of music. The carols were interspersed with

Christmas music and an arrangement of songs from “Phantom of the Opera”. Stewards Mr Bernard and Mrs

Margaret Collier provided a festive supper of sandwiches, sausages and mince pies. Our picture shows some of the car-

oilers with a few members of the Band. (131204/22) .
