I HE addition of the new Euro IV com­ pliant 2.0-litre HDi


diesel engine in the Peugeot 307 SW significantly increases the power output from the 110 b.h.p. 2.0-litre unit it is based on. With an aluminium 16-


valve cylinder head, a ^ - pnd-generatipn high-pres­ sure Siemens injection sys­ tem and a variable geome­ try turbo-charger, the power o u tp u t has been raised to 136 b.h.p. and it is certainly noticeable, the low down torque allowing a lot of flexibility when pulling away in a higher gear. A sbe-speed manual gear­ box is fitted as standard.

area comes courtesy of the 100mm grafted into the 307 hatchback’s wheelbase and has given the car a much more elegant look, the elongated rear balanc­ ing the 307’s lofty roofline quite superbly.
