Holden her own
THERE was a time when Aman da Holden .was known more for her personal life than her career. Her affair with actor Neil Mor
rissey and the subsequent divorce from husband Les Dennis was well-documented (what Amanda calls the ‘middle bit’ of her career) and people paid little heed to her acting. These days things are very dif
ferent. Happily settled with record producer fiance Chris Hughes in their home in Rich mond, Surrey, the Hampshire- born actress has now established herself as a firm favourite on TV screens with hit shows like “Cut ting It” and “Hearts And Bones”. “Obviously I ’m delighted that
there’s more focus on my career now,” says Amanda. “I mean peo ple did to start with, and then there was the middle bit, and now they are again. “Thankfully there’s always somebody more interesting that
comes along. The lovely lady who deals with the press always said, ‘Don’t worry it will be somebody else soon’ and I was like, ‘When?!’ Obviously, plenty of people fill
that gap.” Amanda has moved on to big
ger and better things and this Christmas will be starring in ITVl’s new adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple novel “4.50 From Paddington” (Boxing Day). In it she plays Lucy Eyeles- barrow, a professional housekeeper who Miss Marple enlists to help her - and who becomes something of a trainee Miss Marple herself. “Miss Marple hires Lucy to go
and work in Rutherford Hall because a body has been discov ered nearby,” says Amanda. “So I have to be a housekeeper, a cham bermaid, a cook, and a sleuth in this huge big house. All with red nails and huge big dresses and high heels. I t was great fun for
me.” ■ ' ■ Bringing Down the House, Sky Movies 2, 8pm
Peter Sanderson is a divorced, straight-laced, uptight attorney who still loves his ex-wife and can't figure out what he did wrong to make her leave him. However, Peter's trying to move on, and he's smitten with a brainy, bombshell barrister he's been chatting with online. However, when she comes to his house for their first face-to-face, she isn't refined, isn't Ivy League, and isn't even a lawyer. Instead, it's Charlene, a prison escapee who's proclaiming her innocence and wants Peter to help her clear her name.
