Local government reviews in the two-tier areas of the North West region What do you think?


The Boundary Committee is carrying out a local government review in areas where there are currently two levels of local government - district councils and county councils. We have now decided on at least 2 options for patterns of unitary authorities in your area.


The review proposes introducing just one level of local government, called a unitary authority. The unitary authority will take on all the functions of district and county councils.


At a later date, you will be asked to vote in a referendum on whether you want an elected regional assembly for your region.
