Events The hotel is back

Name: Hotel Interiors Experience (HIX) Location: London’s Business Design Centre Date: 17–18 November Web: www.hixevent.com Report: Preview

community together to celebrate everything that makes hotels incredible. Returning bigger and better for 2022, with two days of networking, discussions, parties, installations and a curated exhibition of Europe’s leading suppliers, the event is free to attend and the best place to find the entire hotel supply chain under one roof. The theme this year – ‘great things will grow’ – is one of optimism. A reminder that for all the challenges and difficulties of the roaring ’20s so far, the hotel as both a medium and a market has demonstrated a remarkable ability to adapt, innovate and evolve. Exploring this brave new world, HIX Talks will look to the future of hotels through a series of panels, keynotes and deep dives featuring expert designers, operators and hospitality thinkers.

Bloom and grow In the wake of great disruption, the HIX Talks programme will explore the new concepts and movements set to define tomorrow’s hotel

aking place in November at London’s Business Design Centre, Hotel Interiors Experience (HIX) will bring the hospitality design

experience. From the changing face of urban hospitality to exclusive membership models and zero-waste design, join us to hear what’s next for the hospitality industry, and how to prepare for the challenges and opportunities ahead. Here’s a few of the big hotel ideas at HIX Talks 2022: ■ Into the metaverse – why hotels are betting on cyberspace: Bleeding edge or glitch in the system? With hotel designers and operators diving into the metaverse, the hotel experience finds itself at the forefront of emergent digital environments and facilitating new social experiences. But beyond all the buzzwords, what does it mean for the guest? Emma Chiu, global director, Wunderman Thompson Intelligence and confirmed speaker, notes: “Metaverse destinations will not be a digital twin of existing cities, instead they will consist of newly created places; designers will be able to explore the expansiveness of creativity in the digital world and visitors will be able to have out- of-this-world experiences.”
