Raising the bar O
ver the past two years, Radisson Hotel Group reached a new record in terms of brand
awareness, real estate transformation, new sustainability standards, innovative technological developments, and strong portfolio expansion. In 2021, the group secured its largest number of signings, surpassing any other year to date. Looking ahead to 2022, the group will continue its ambitious growth plan with a projected further 400 signings across EMEA and Asia. A key focus will be the group’s expansion in Asia, in addition to its lifestyle business and extended stay proposition. The group also aims to cement its leading position in Europe as the largest upper-upscale operator with the Radisson Blu brand, and to create the same possibilities and scale for its owners and guests across its other brands. In APAC, the group is targeting record growth and is set to operate almost seven times its current portfolio today, with more than 1,350 hotels in operation by 2025. In China alone, the group plans to grow its portfolio from the current 60 to more than 1,000 hotels in operation, in cooperation with its partners.
A love for luxury
Radisson Collection, the group’s renowned luxury lifestyle brand, has had a strong start to 2022 with the opening of Radisson Collection Hotel in Berlin and many additional openings planned in key gateway destinations. As borders continue to open and leisure travel returns, the group will be expanding its lifestyle resort portfolio with more than nine hotels in key resort destinations. In 2021, the group’s resort portfolio added more than 20 new signings, bringing the total resort portfolio to over 100 properties in operation and under development. Radisson Hotel Group has growth in its sights – and 2021 proved that its strategy is working. As the group cements itself as one of the world’s largest hotel groups, it looks back on why last year saw such resounding success, and what 2022 will bring.

2020, will welcome more than 13 new properties in 2022. With the latest prizeotel opening in central Bonn this month, the group’s lifestyle midscale brand continues its growth in EMEA, bringing the number of hotels to approximately 25 with a focus on Germany and the UK. Already present in cities such as Munich, Hamburg, Hanover and Antwerp, the brand has a solid growth trajectory and is expected to double its portfolio in the upcoming years. Focusing on lifestyle design at an affordable price point, prizeotel’s eclectic character combines comfortable accommodation in an informal setting and service culture.
Global growth
In 2021, Radisson Hotel Group marked a key milestone with the opening of its 100th hotel in India, cementing its position among the fastest-growing international brands in India with plans to open more in the next five years. Last year also marked the tenth anniversary of Radisson Blu as the largest upper-upscale brand in Europe, with a further expansion to 400 properties planned. The Radisson brand, which
counts close to 300 hotels, expanded its presence in cities like Amsterdam, Dubai, Shanghai and New Delhi. The group’s strong results are thanks to the relevance of its brands and its nimble business approach to guests and owners. Throughout the pandemic, the group continued to evolve and adapt to changing market conditions, restrictions and consumer demands, but doing things differently and staying relevant to guests, owners and investors. Elie Younes, global chief development officer at Radisson Hotel Group, sees 2021 as a year of excitement, and challenges as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. “The context triggered us to innovate,” he says, “which resulted in more possibilities and opportunities. Despite the recent challenges of 2022, we look forward to creating more growth throughout the year.
