Continuous ambient vibration measurements: experimental setup and first results on an arch dam

2.2. Ambient vibration measurement setup The experimental setup consists of 5 three-dimensional velocimeters (blue circles in Figure 2). The sensors are IGU-16HR 3C 5Hz from SmartSolo. Four devices are placed near the crest of the arch inside pendulum rooms as presented in Figure 2 and Figure 3. The last device is located on the rock at the right abutment to provide a reference measurement. These devices are independent of each other, and the GPS- synchronized timestamp allows them to be considered as a network of synchronized measurements. The measurement is performed continuously with a sample rate of 4 ms. The raw measurements are velocities continuously recorded by three directional velocimeters. They are positioned to measure along the upstream-downstream direction of the dam, the tangential axis, and the vertical axis.
