Another beautiful thing about this life is our freedom of artistic expression. Many renowned artists have said that art is an expression or a reflection of life. Other artists have said that art is a satire of life. No matter what one’s philosophy of art is, there is one thing consistent with all philosophies, and that is that we have the freedom to express ourselves artistically. Tis goes for art, music, theatre, and dance. I am thankful for my right to artistic freedom, and I am proud that every reader of this essay enjoys the same freedom of artistic expression. Tanks to Dee Snider and the other rock and roll artists who addressed the PMRC, our artistic liberty was preserved. In a society where violence is becoming increasingly standard, it is important that the media and we, society at large, not make fallacies or make misconceptions about artists of today or their work. We are each responsible for our own actions. We know that there have been very bloodthirsty and mentally ill people who have killed themselves and others throughout history. Tis behavior did not start as a result of rock and roll. So, famous rock and roll musicians enjoy the same freedom of artistic expression. In conclusion, I will state my stance one final time and leave you with some parting words from Eminem. Famous rock and roll musicians are not responsible for the murders and suicides carried out by their fans. Tis was very eloquently presented by the white rapper that parents around America have loved to hate for a few decades now, Eminem. He rapped:
“And all of this controversy circles me And it seems like the media immediately Points a finger at me (Finger at me)

So I point one back at ‘em, but not the index or pinkie Or the ring or the thumb, it’s the one you put up When you don’t give a fuck, when you won’t just put up With the bullshit they pull, ‘cause they full of shit too When a dude’s gettin’ bullied and shoots up his school And they blame it on Marilyn (On Marilyn) and the heroin
Where were the parents at? (Parents at?) And look where it’s at! Middle America, now it’s a tragedy Now it’s so sad to see, in upper-class cities.”
