See Through or Evil? by Tahje Hayes
If you look into her eyes long enough, Your heart might turn into stone. From that, you may call her Medusa. I just call her evil. I knew her love only caused pain, But I enjoy the feeling. Heart devoured in flames, I can literally feel the burning inside. Every day she put on her mask And robbed me of my pride. Like prisoners, we were locked in. It was nowhere else to go. Brightness everywhere she goes, I can still see her glow, In the crowd at my shows. Even when I was low, Like a drug she got me high. I knew she was powerful so I never picked a fight Tey told me she was evil I only use to call her that She turned my heart into stone, Now I call her Medusa Tey still call her evil Don’t forget that I really see you And I see the opposite of evil.
Vulnerability by Shavontae Washington
Just look at me, see beyond all of the parody; there lies a shattered individual who masks all her feelings. I disdain feeling vulnerable, I shudder with the thought of someone seeing me naked, Can you handle me bearing my soul to you? Te overlapping facade protects the jewel that hides, scared stiff at the thought of letting anyone close to me, My hands tremble, my stomach churns, and then the palpitations start. I can’t let you see all the makings of me, You’ll just do what you came for, and kiss me like Judas did Jesus, Why should I hand you the knife to carve me piece by piece? Are you honorable, or a sneaky thief? Let’s face it, If I were to let you in, you’d have a front row seat to my soul, Probing and plotting on who you’ll pretending to be, Ten swipe my most precious gem that makes me, me!
