The project brief is to build a 200-bed medical hub and a centre for medical education in Pattaya Campus, complete
with a plan for future enhancement, such as wellness and senior complex apartments as well as a dormitory for doctors and nurses. Since this project is in a university area, traffic, access, entrance and circulation become the most important elements in the design. The hospital entrance is conveniently connected to a main road with some internal links to the university area. Access to the hospital is clearly separated from access to the university to meet the standard practice of healthcare circulation system.
ARCHITECTURE The architects capitalise on the existing sloping area instead of building against it. Preserving the natural environment within this project is expected to support the patients’ well- being, as well as the quality of life of the medical personnel and surrounding communities. That being said, the site’s steep topography is a major concern and so the foundation work period is predicted to take up a large proportion of the project timeline.
