The project boasts extensive greenery at over 5,000 square- metre area consists of lawns complemented with indoor and outdoor green walls. The roof is dedicated to a green event lawn accessible to the public and also anchored by the city's first urban biodiversity museum and sustainability-themed education park.
A SUSTAINABLE REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT Expected as a green oasis in the city, sustainability formed the basis of K11’s project focus of the design of the retail complex, setting a new benchmark for Green design in Hong Kong. The project has achieved new Green building pre-certifications including the Gold US LEED and Silver Hong Kong BEAM Plus standards.

The public realm surrounding the building is similarly greened and rejuvenated as a natural enclave in this high-density neighbourhood. Other environmentally focussed initiatives within the overall complex, including view and air corridors as well as solar panels to augment the Green building concept.
The entire project is a renovation of an existing building, it is built on top of the older building’s foundations, which was an enormously complicated construction process as and constrained the project design. To stitch the building into the surrounding context, the architect used stepped massing to drop the mass of the complex accessible from any side. This led to a lot of column transfers and a complicated structural system on the harbour side of the building due to the water.
