Nano and Advanced Materials Institute (NAMI) Incorporated in 2006, NAMI is designated by the Innovation and Technology Commission of the Hong Kong Government as a research and development (R&D) centre for nanotechnology and advanced materials. NAMI undertakes and provides support for market-driven research in both discipline and strives for commercialization of the technologies to benefit the industry and the society at large, as well as re-industrialisation to promote the economic growth and sustainability of Hong Kong.
Actively collaborating with the industry, government departments and public organizations, trade associations, etc. in undertaking market- driven research and development projects in various technology areas, NAMI follows the market trend, technology development and focus R&D initiatives on a wide range of market sectors such as construction, electronics, energy, environmental and healthcare.
NAMI has identified opportunities to reshape the construction industries in four research themes: super concrete, sustainable pavement materials technology, advanced materials for construction robotics, and functional coating and repair materials technologies for buildings. The strong portfolio of technological know- how and patents is a useful and valuable asset facilitating the further advance of collaborative research to support the industry, creating impact by making Hong Kong a world-class innovation and technology hub.
