THE COMMEMORATION OF INNOCELL, HONG KONG’S FIRST MIC-HIGH- RISE BUILDING 12 January 2021


The Construction Industry Council (CIC) presents commemorative plaques to Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) to mark the completion of InnoCell as Hong Kong’s first high-rise building built with innovative Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) technology.


Ir Lam Sai-hung, Permanent Secretary for Development (Works); Chan Ka-kui, Chairman of the CIC; Mr. Simon Wong, Chief Project Development Officer of HKSTP; and Ir Kenneth Mo, Chairperson of Joint Working Group on MiC of the CIC, together officiated the plaque unveiling ceremony which highlights a key milestone for Hong Kong’s construction industry.


POST-EVENT: BUSINESS OF DESIGN WEEK (BODW) 30 NOVEMBER – 5 DECEMBER 2020


The Asia’s annual flagship event on design, innovation and brands, Business of Design Week (BODW) held its 2020 edition from 30 November to 5 December. Organised by Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) and co-organised by Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), with Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government as the Lead Sponsor, BODW 2020 was successfully concluded with BODW Summit as a hybrid event simulcast live on multiple platforms for the first time. From 3 to 5 December 2020, the BODW Summit connected global creative visionaries with international participants from around the world in over 50 sessions.


Under the theme ‘VISION 20/21’, the BODW Summit addressed timely

themes relevant to the post-pandemic era to help participants find clarity in uncertainty. Over 100 influential design and business leaders shared their views on nine themes, namely Brand Futures, Connected Health, Safe Travels, Circular Economy, Immersive Tech, Creative Leadership, Entwined Spaces, Communication & Design and Culture & the City.


In partnership with the Summit’s Production and TV Broadcaster, ViuTV, BODW produced a number of the sessions in hybrid live format for streaming on its customised virtual platform. From 3 to 5 December 2020, selective sessions were further simulcast on ViuTVsix every evening Hong Kong time, as well as on social media platforms.


The CIC specially gifted plaques of InnoCell to HKSTP, engineering design consultant Leigh & Orange (L&O), main contractor Hip Hing Engineering Co., Ltd, and component supplier China International Marine Containers (Group) Ltd, to commemorate the project team in reaching this milestone, as well as show appreciation for sharing their extensive and innovative construction experience.
