Dayton Playhouse’s FutureFest and the Garry Marshall Theatre’s New Works Festival. Kaz is a 2022-23 Winterthur Research Fellow and will spend the spring of 2023 in Delaware working on “The Sweetgum Trilogy,” three plays that focus on trees and climate change.


Amy Thomason MA ’05 made one of the smartest decisions of her adult life in 2021 when she joined Beyond Marketing – as director of content marketing – owned by her brother, James La Barrie ’99! She continues to reside in Charlotte with her husband, David, and daughters Ella (9) and Zoë (6).


In July 2022, Emily Cantrell MSOD ’13 took a new role as corporate engagement director at Matlen Silver, a technology strategy and staffing firm.

Martha Brenner MFA ’04 is the author of a newly expanded picture book, “Abe Lincoln’s Hat,” illustrated by Brooke Smart and published by Random House Children’s Books. Based on her earlier easy reader of the same name, the new edition offers a richer story, with more historical material, about the somewhat disorganized young lawyer whose success in court helps prepare him for the presidency.

John Rothwell EMBA ’13 was recently named senior vice president of sales by AMN Healthcare (NYSE: AMN). Rothwell has executive responsibility for AMN’s revenue growth and go-to-market strategies across AMN’s total talent and workforce optimization solutions. He still resides in Charlotte with his wife Amy and two children, Colin and Claire.


In 2022, Heather Hopkins, MBA ’21 was recognized by the Charlotte Business Journal as one of the Top 40 Under 40. In 2023, you can see her dance for Dancing with the Stars of Charlotte to raise money for those living with breast cancer and their families as she supports Carolina Breast Friends and Go Jen Go.


Shawn McDowell MBA ’18 and his wife recently moved into their first home and celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary. Te photo was from their first visit to a Broadway show last winter to see "Wicked."


Robert Combs MBA ’15 and Whitney Combs are the new owners of the People’s Market restaurant located in the Elizabeth neighborhood. It will be a great spot for Queens alumni, faculty, staff and students to work and play.
