He is the Miami chapter faculty advisor and on the national board of Pi Sigma Epsilon, the professional marketing and sales business fraternity. Pat’s sons live in Kansas City and Portland. His daughter Shannon graduated in 2017 and works in post-production marketing at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, California.


Consultants, Inc. with securing HUB and NCSBE certifications and securing state RETOOL 3.0 funds. Additionally, she recently earned her DEI in the Workplace certification from the University of South Florida. Athena is in its 14th year of business.


Jennie Jarvis MFA ’11 recently won two Gold Telly Awards for her short film “Connection." She won in both the writing and low-budget categories. Her film is also an official selection of the 2022 Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival.

Tara Goodfellow MBA ’01 was selected for the Business Launch Pad Program – a partnership with the Mecklenburg County Office of Economic Development and CPCC. One of 17 businesses to complete the cohort, this has helped enhance her career coaching firm Athena


Carolyn S. Harmon, MSN ’03 graduated from the University of South Carolina on August 5, 2022, with her second nursing doctorate, a Ph.D. in nursing science. Her 2003 MSN from Queens supported her academic success!


Scott Dam EMBA ’07 opened Novelty House Rooftop and Havana Smoke & Reserve, both in Uptown Charlotte in 2021. These bars welcome all Queens students and alumni as they celebrate their first- year anniversary.


While working at Queens, Somer Saunders M.Ed. ’21 continued her education with the Cato School of Education to pursue a Master of Education in Literacy K-12 degree. Somer completed all degree requirements in December 2021 and proudly accepted her diploma in May with the Class of 2022.


In her 10th year as a teacher at Nations Ford High School, Beth Swann MFA ’10 has built award-winning programs in both journalism and creative writing. She advises the student newspaper and literary magazine, both of which were named best in South Carolina and earned All-Southern ratings from the Southern Interscholastic Press Association. Voices Literary Magazine won the Scroggins Award for being the Best in the South for 2022. This was the second time in three years the magazine earned the honor.
