She describes a memorable moment that happened not long after she found out she was being honored with the title. "One question that really moved me when
I gave a talk right after the announcement … was from a graduating Master of Fine Arts student. She raised her hand and said, ‘you spoke so beautifully about the role, now what can we do to help you?’ And it moved me to tears. Tat to me is such a perfect example of the Queens writing community."
