Te class expresses sympathy to Caroline Robicsek MAT ’00 on the death of her father- in-law, Dr. Francis Robicsek, who passed away on April 3.


Athena Dixon’s MFA ’08 debut essay collection, Te Incredible Shrinking Woman, was published by Split/Lip Press in September. It is the author’s second book and her first prose collection.


Martha-Mac Harris MFA ’09 received the Adjunct Instructor of the Year Award for 2020 at Stanly


Khalisa Rae Tompson MFA ’17 will have her full-length poetry collection debut with Red Hen Press on April 16, 2021. Her boutique poetry and art book will release in August 2021 from White Stag Publishing.


Community College in Albemarle, North Carolina. She has been teaching English, with a focus on essay writing, at Stanly Community College for 10 years, both on campus and at Albemarle Correctional Institute.


Jennifer Hull MA ’13 joined Ally as an early talent recruiting manager in August. She looks forward to recruiting Queens students to Ally!


Michael Brantley MFA ’14 had his book, Galvanized: Te Odyssey of a Reluctant Carolina Confederate, published May 1 by University of Nebraska Press/Potomac Books. Te book is about his great-great- grandfather, who served in both armies during the Civil War and was involved in a bizarre hometown murder 20 years later. Te book is also about North Carolina’s unique stance toward the Confederacy and how the Civil War is still going on today. Te book was number one on Amazon New Releases in several Civil War categories in May.


Shakea McKinnon MBA ’19 became a business owner of Level II Venue in June 2019 in Charlotte and was recently featured in a business brand photoshoot with other minority and female business owners.


Lisa Morgan MBA ’15 has accepted a business manager, vice president position for Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG). She will be working in the operations and technology group for risk and controls.

International Conferences (ARICON) to lead a workshop based on her Queens MFA Craft Paper, “Enriching Story Scenes Trough the Senses,” at King’s College London last February, followed by a shorter presentation at Oxford. Te paper was published in ARICON’s proceedings. A week later, she and her husband, John, blissfully celebrated their 40th anniversary on the Normandy


D-day beaches, returning just in time before the shutdowns began.


One month after graduating from Queens, Shakea McKinnon MBA ’19 became a business owner of Level II Venue and hit the ground running. She thanks Queens for providing her with the foundation needed to be a successful business owner.
